Zygo was born from the simple idea that swimming could be more community-driven, engaging, and fun.
Why isn't everyone swimming?
It began with a conversation between two non-swimmers who noticed that swimming had been entirely overlooked by major trends in fitness. While spinning, running, and other dry land activities had become social and entertaining, we wondered why swimming remained solitary, boring, and silent.
SwimTeam is born.
We never intended to start a hardware company. Our first business to get people swimming was a pool-based boutique fitness class in LA called SwimTeam. (Spoiler alert: we plan to resume those live classes with Zygo...stay tuned.)
Here's what's missing when you swim.
SwimTeam introduced us to two problems. First, it is much harder for coaches to give instruction in swimming than in other sports, simply because water blocks communication. Second, unlike in other fitness classes, the water was preventing us from playing music to keep the class energized.
In May 2017, we set out to solve both of these problems through proprietary hardware coupled with engaging content. We worked with a team of world-class designers and engineers to develop first-of-its-kind technology with a mission to inspire greater love of the water.
We hope our story will inspire you to get swimming, and to swim better.
