Best underwater sound choice on the market
For over ten years, I’ve swum 45 minutes a day, virtually everyday, while listening to audiobooks. I’ve used every technology: the waterproof iPod shuffle, side loaded from Itunes; a Dolphin Underwater Audio product running on Amazon’s Android Store, that syncs with your iPhone, but on a tiny screen, hard to manage.
I’ve been swimming with Zygo for a month now, and it solves every problem that I had with the earlier technology.
The sound quality is excellent, even though it is transmitted through bone conduction near your ear, but not in your ear. The quality is 95% of the level of the first generation Airpods.
The sound is reliable. With wired, waterproof earphones clicked to a waterproof, small storage/playback device, at any moment you could “flood” one of your ears, leading to a greatly degraded listening experience for the rest of the swim. The very fear of this happening always sort of degraded the experience a little, versus out-of-water Airpods. The Zygo sound can’t be “flooded” because of bone conduction, so you can more easily relax and enjoy.
As the sound is streamed from your iPhone, there is no need to “synch” with the portable swimming hardware, saving time, simplifying the whole process.
They got wireless transmission to work through shallow water! This might not be as big a breakthrough as mRNA vaccine technology, but it’s darn close.
The tech support is fantastic. My first unit had some quirks in the bluetooth connection, and they sent a replacement within…
